This scene caught my interest while on vacation in Cape May when I took a random snapshot. The color and texture of the dumpster were visually attractive, as well as the contrast it created against the bicyclist. I decided to accentuate this contrast by painting the bicycle in a complementary color and using bare canvas as my lightest value. The raw canvas contrasted against other parts of the painting created by building layers of paint.
