A series of still life paintings called "Stilled Resistance"
A package of two Twinkies lies stacked—one a familiar golden yellow, the other dark brown. The background churns with sharp, expressionistic brushstrokes, creating a sense of unease and agitation.
This painting confronts the racist conspiracy theory known as “The Great Replacement,” which falsely claims that people of color are covertly supplanting white populations. By presenting these mass-produced snacks as stand-ins for racialized bodies, the work uses absurdity to expose the dangerous logic behind the narrative. The composition draws attention to how such ideas gain traction—not through facts, but through fear. The Great Replacement urges viewers to acknowledge the presence of this ideology and reflect on its real-world consequences.
