Part of the "Street Scenes" series
This painting is a snapshot of the hurried lives of everyday people. A contemplative mother pushes her baby in a stroller. An older woman struggles while walking with multiple packages. A father is distracted while walking with his son. None of these figures interact with each other, creating a feeling of disconnect. Furthermore, the viewer's role is one of onlooker, adding to the detachment.
