Snowy Dawn - SOLD
Oil on canvas, 36" x 24", 2021
In this painting, I aimed to achieve a monochromic effect by using closely related colors with variations in tonal values. The only contrast to the dominating blue hues is the orange on the dog's sweater, which is also the focal point. Additionally, I used linear brushstrokes to emphasize movement and break down large forms. This painting was inspired by my daily dog walks during winter. The color treatment for this painting was inspired while listening to a podcast that explained the rivalry between British painters Turner and Constable in 1831.
