In cold winters during snowstorms, the Delaware River freezes into massive, floating chunks of ice, creating a surreal landscape. I captured this effect using layers of paint washes in cool tones of varying blues and greens. I mimicked the angular lines of the bridge in my treatment of the water by painting varying lengths of brushstrokes with heavy pigment. This is contrasted by the sky's light tones and pale colors, which serve as a visual resting place for the viewer.
